Comparison of General, Neuraxial/Regional Anesthesia in Total Knee Arthroplasty

Background: Total knee arthroplasty is an important procedure requiring accuracy and skill. The choice of anesthesia for better outcomes a mandatory requirement in this procedure. Objective: To compare the general verses neuraxial/regional total arthroplasty. Study Design: Comparative analytical study Place Duration Study: Department Orthopaedics, Sahara Medical College, Narowalfrom 1st April 2019 to 31st March 2021. Methodology: Ninety nine patients within age group >45 years were divided into three groups according anaesthetic technique applied (general, spinal or epidural). They each had 33 patients. Patient’s informed consent was taken. Clinical history information regarding their physical heath recorded prior operation. Results: mean 50.6±7.16 years. There 53.5% male 46.5% females total. BMI among no significant variance. Blood loss during surgery duration lower anaesthesia group. Post-operative pain six hours transfusion rate less groups. Conclusion: Neuraxial related with improved effective having complains especially epidural respectively. slightly insignificantly than types.
